Richard went out of his way to change our room. But I feel sorry for the next schmuck who got stuck with that room. Regardless of the change, we decided to move to a different hotel asap.
We arrived late at night and therefore the front desk wasn't busy, making check in a breeze. Once we got up to the room (3 of us) we were a little disappointed at the room - a mediocre double bed, and an uncomfortable futon. As another reviewer mentioned, it does get noisy early in the morning (but then again, you are in a city and most cities get started early). However, if you're not too fussed on the bed and the noise, it's a short walk to the beach and a variety of restaurants.
We came back from the Stay last week. Basically you get what you pay for its a budget hotel, however the room is a good size, bed very comfortable. Staff very friendly. Housekeeping came in every day we were there 5 nights. Nothing was too much trouble. Only a block from Waikiki beach. It's a good base. If we are ever lucky enough to come back would have no hesitation about coming back to the The Stay. Also complimentary WiFi.
Pictures online are not what they seem. Hotel staff is great! But rooms and amenities are lacking. Plus, they give you free ear buds which is a sign that youre in NY City and not at all I'm Hawaii. Once again staff is great.
We had (unfortunately) booked a room at the very beginning and at the very end of our trip (after spending a little more than a week up on the North Shore), and were unable to cancel our last days at the Stay, so we endured it. However this time, check in was painful and chaotic. Staff were not overly friendly or helpful.
I loved the staff. Especially Maria, who went out of her way to make my stay great. Close to everything. Bar downstairs has the best food and drinks . Cheapest in Waikiki. Can get wild or not. The price was right
** Wang Chungs Karaoke Bar (located not the main floor) is probably the best thing about this place, and well worth a visit even if you're not staying at the hotel **
Pathetic hotel. The staff is dedicated and eager to help. Richard went out of his way to help us feel comfortable. However, they don't have much to work with in the hotel in the first place.
Was given a room with no windows, no bedside tables and a tiny bathroom where you couldn't step out of the shower without hitting the door. To top it off, the building next door had a door across from our entrance with a sign - "Pornstar, I make home videos". That was the last straw for us.
