Recently purchased a car from a private party. Before buying the car I brought the car in to get a pre purchase inspection at BMW. After the inspection, the car was noted for having a few problems which would cost around 5-6 thousand to fix. After the inspection I asked for the history of the car, specifically the transmission. I was told no history for the car existed for the transmission, the bmw service advisor was Laura. 3 weeks later after I buy the car, a transmission malfunction indicator comes on. I take the car in to the service department and the advisor, now Tobe tells me that the transmission indicator light came on becuase the clutch needed to be replaced and it was noted and told to the previous owner over 2 years ago. I asked how can this be when 3 weeks ago I was told no history on the transmission existed. The previous bmw service advisor named Laura says she doesn’t remember me asking for the history and she didn’t tell me becuase it is not required nor part of the pre purchase inspection. Now a few days pass by and after the inspection with Tobe to see if anything else was wrong, the car now needs repairs totaling around $16,000. Now the car needs a rear axle replaced which the previous inspection 3 weeks ago should have checked. How can in 3 weeks from one inspection the car now be at $10,000 more in the next inspection? Obviously something is not right here and this is bad business, bad customer service, and just bad overall experience. This is not what I expected from BMW at all. I have spoken to one manager named Mr Lydell in the service department and have not received an answer as to how this could have happened and if anything will be done to help me with this situation.
Absolutely wonderful service. As a first time used-car buyer they were extremely patient, very transparent, and great to work with. I left feeling confident with my purchase, and I absolutely love my new car. I probably had an exponential number of questions compared to their normal clients, and my sales associate, Brett, thoughtfully answered everyone. I did a lot of shopping, a lot of researching, and was very surprised that BMW had some of the best price / coverage for extended warranty packages for certified used cars.
Called to inquire about how much an Oil change would cost. I was quoted $180 and was curious to why it costs so much to perform an oil change (note I found an online special that quotes an oil change at $99.95 but this was after I asked how much an oil change would cost). The person I spoke with said that the quote was 99.95 for an oil change and the rest was for a "standard scope". When I called to ask for a quote I did not ask for a standard scope and was not even presented with an option of declining this option. This is very shady business practices to tack on additional services that is unneeded and taking advantage of unsuspecting customers. BMW Honolulu has lost my business after this as I've lost trust and confidence to their integrity.
Dropped off my car this morning. Service representative was friendly and helpful. Always clean.
Is what you expect for BMW good Service! Love the shuttle service.
