One of my favorite trails in O’ahu. 5 miles round trip. Allow 3 hrs for this hike. There is a guard house about 1 mile before the trailhead. Let them know you are going to hike and they will ask for your driver’s license to write the number down and give you a parking pass. Trail is well maintained by the Sierra Club. Nice vistas from the ridge on the way up. The last 1/2 mile to the end of the trail has lots of steps. It looks steep but don’t be intimidated. Once you get to the antenna tower, keep going another 100 yards to the end, marked by a bench. Enjoy your snacks and the view at the top for a while before turning back.
Great views. The top gives you views of the North Shore while you get waves of nice mountain clouds surrounding you.
It is a great average hike. Just bring some water and a snack shouldn't last more than 2 to 3 hours
This is the trail head. It's in a gated community, but when you drive up to the guard shack you just tell him you are there to hike the trail. He will need to see your drivers license and then give you a parking pass and allow you to enter. He will even give you instructions on how to get to the trail head, as well as inform you that everywhere else is private property. A lot of very nice homes in this area, with great views. The trail starts out pretty easy, just walking up a dirt road, but you'll hit a point where you'll see stairs, and this is the beginning of the real ascent up to the radio antenna. It gets pretty steep the last leg, but the view from the top is phenomenal. You can see both sides of the island.
My favorite hike so far. Amazing views. Challenging yet rewarding.
