Magic Island is not an island at all, it's a little peninsula. This part of the park is nice, the grassy areas are nice for picnics and hanging out. There are a lot of trails for walking, running, riding a bike. They tend to have a lot of event here. The view of Friday night fireworks is great from here. The park has bathroom facilities and there are rinse showers for when you come off the beach. Lots of good surf breaks off the park, but you need to know what you're doing. The biggest issue is the parking. On weekends it is almost impossible to find parking here. Since we live in town we usually bike to the park. They do have a lot of Biki stations, which is good! I'm glad Honolulu makes public park space a priority.

Magic Island is our local beach park. Technically it is a peninsula. Let just say you don't need to cross any water to get there. The sandy beach area is lagoon-like and is protected by rocky seawall. Plenty townie learned how to swim at this natural kiddie pool. (Make sure you still adult supervise the kids) There are half a dozen of barbecue stations and picnic benches on the grassy area. Magic island include a restroom and changing station as well as a winding trail for biking, roller bladeing and jogging. Also plenty benches along the path to sit and rest.

Great place but they close the park at night for safety reasons. There is a great view of the boat Harbor and Diamond Head, there is also an enclosed area so that kids and families can swim without being disturbed by large waves. The grassy area has a lot of places which shade and tables as well as barbecue pits that is great for family outings and large events .

I love Ala Moana Beach Park and Magic Island. So peaceful and beautiful. A great place for family, friends, picnic, wedding photos, beach activity. Also excellent for exercise and Meetup groups.

Good place for kids and kayaking. Some small surfs. Standing on reef far out of shore at low tide.
