My absolute favorite place on the island, great views. Also fun to get up there, whether hiking or driving.
We went at night. Beautiful views, however once the sun goes down the drive up the mountain is harrowing. Several miles from the top street lights cease and you're making hairpin turns without being able to see the sides of the road.
One of the best places to go if you want to witness an amazing, picturesque view but don't want to make the hard hike up a mountain. The road up is a single lane road with a few twists and turns so be careful driving on this road, but at around 10 minutes, it's a relatively short drive up. Once you're there you get a stunning panoramic view of Honolulu, Diamond head, and all the cities around it. Absolutely beautiful.
It wont feel like a state park in the sense of grandeur. Its very pretty. Has a great lookout. Connects to other trailheads like Makiki loop. A public bathroom. No water fountains so bring your own water.
Always love to go to here. Night or day.
