They had half of it closed. The part that was open was really interesting, just wish I could have seen everything I paid to see.
Amazing if you love airplanes and history. We spent over 2 hours here, and also enjoyed a delicious lunch. Excellent food in their cafe. We got to actually meet a Flying Tiger pilot, and watch them work on restoring an older plane. Definite thumbs up!
Solid aviation museum… the beginning video is pretty good and the aircraft are well maintained. Two hangers worth of aircraft and of course there is the epic Swamp Ghost. There isn’t necessarily anything to do for kiddos but there is a flight simulator for $10. If you are coming to Hawaii for history then yes I would recommend the visit. The plus is that they serve beer!
I had had a great time and aviation is not my specific area of interest. You need a solid 2-3 hours to properly experience both hangars reading everything and taking pictures. Worth every penny and minute I spent on the experience. My only regret was not having more time to read everything. We only had an hour or so.
Our guide, Rex Dalby, gave an excellent tour using anecdotes and historical facts to explain the role of the airplane in war combat especially in the Pacific.
