There was a DMV employee standing at the door answering questions and giving directions, but when she checked my documents to make sure I had the right stuff, she was wrong and wasted two hours of my time.
Employees are rude, without empathy towards your time and waiting, and slow.
I went back the next weekend. Waited about 45 minutes with the right documents and was able to get my license renewed. They will not give you a permanent driver's license during your visit. It will take a few weeks and be delivered in the mail. Be sure you absolutely have the right items needed or risk wasting a lot of time. On both visits, there were no more than six windows open out of the 17 available.
Driver's license renewal is not an easy task. This location is now open on Saturdays during a pilot program that will last until the end of the year. I stopped in on the second Saturday they were open. The line went out the door with customers waiting at least two hours.
