While at Kuakiki a year ago, I was there bcuz one leg was triple normal. I was admitted. On the 3rd day I had a very sharp pain on my heart.
Staff at Kuakini is top notch. Had both ER and hospital stay and consistent level of care all around.
I Pushed call button and waited
It's redicolous the fact you come to the ER and no dam nurse or anyone can't help you.. been and hour here freaking waiting and all they say were busy.. but when it comes to the bill of anyone out here! Then they spected to that money be paid fast!!
First time being here and being in the E.R on the island of Hawaii. I was brought on by the EMTs (thanks EMTs!!), so I didn't have to wait long for help. The nurses were super helpful and friendly, as well as the doctors. They helped with the paperwork, and explained to me what I was signing, instead of just telling me to just sign. Once the doctor asked his questions, and did his test, he ordered a blood test, chest cat scan, and other tests, and I was fairly surprised by how quick everyone was there to do the testing's. I was here from 5pm to 12am. I stayed that longer because I needed blood and I have profound respect for people who donate blood (Thank you donors!). Also, thanks to nurse Lehua and nurse Julie for making this experience easy and the doctors. Thank you!
10-15 mins later a nurse finally arrived, told her symptoms , she checked the heart read out and she push a button on the wall. Nurse told me I was having a heart attack !, you mean like I told the janitor?? , like I said 45 mins before when janitor came?? I was stablized and THEN I got moved, shipped me off to Queens Medical Center as Kuikini didn't have an Cardiologist on duty, and i felt like laughing and crying. The Moral of this story for anything serious or could become life treating go else where to start. Kuakiki used to be a good hospital but not after it was chgd a few years from no Real Emergency Room or reaGranted it wasn't the reason I was there but quickly got to Queens, I had emergency triple bypass. There are only 3 hospitals in town. Queens, Straub and Kaiser. Pick one, but remember, you're life worth more than what us locals call the Death Hospital. It's good for things like blood tests and minor procedures. See for yourself.
Wife went to the Kuakini Clinic and received great service. Very efficient. We were seen immediately and completed our walk-in appointment in about 30 minutes. Much appreciation!
And waited. And waited... then I started screaming I was having a heart attack.
A few minutes later a janitor showed up asked why I was screaming. I told him I needed a Dr or nurse, due to extremely heavy chest pain, I'm having a heart attack.
