I ordered 2 funeral wreaths for my father's memorial. For $250 each, one would expect something impressive...right?... When I arrived at the chapel I was shocked and so embarrassed. The wreaths were extremely small in size and were dwarfed by the other wreaths that were sent by friends and family. Not only were they small, but the flowers that were used were dead!!! In all fairness one of the wreaths was decent but the other was painfully humiliating. I called the florist the day after the funeral and expressed my sadness and disappointment...her response...20%off!!!.....Weak!!!!!...Clearly this establishment doesn't stand by their end product...I would think twice before ordering any significant floral arrangments.....especially a memorial for a loved one.
On the delivery day, my friend posted a “Thank-you” and a photograph of the flowers on her Facebook page. I was appalled. The bouquet was much smaller than the BASIC version and the flowers were dry looking, and elements of the arrangement were missing. I hoped my friend wouldn’t think the quality of the flowers was indicative of the quality of our friendship.
I contacted Honolulu Florist via telephone and email. In the email I included a photographic comparison of what was pictured on her website and what was delivered to my friend. I told her I expected a refund.
Wow, I wish I read these comments before I ordered. What a huge disappointment. I ordered one of the Teleflora arrangements and it was much more sparse than the picture. Also, I spent about 15 minutes taking off the outer edges of most of the flowers before I would even give it to the recipient. The tips were dry and turning brown. How embarrassing. I should have rejected the order when I picked it up, but they were such nice, little Japanese ladies and you know how we don't want to be rude in Hawaii, so I didn't say anything and just vowed never to give them my business again.
EDIT: 12/30/2011 A refund for $62.95 was posted to my account on 12/29 This does not include the delivery fee.
I have ordered several bouquets for my girlfriend and they have been beautiful. The price is a bit high for a full 5 stars but worth every penny to see her smile when she sees them.
Hence forth I will include the following statement in the “message for the recipient” on all future orders through any florist:
Her logic as well as her business ethics mystify me. Who would not sign for a floral delivery? The receiver generally has no idea what the flowers are supposed to look like, which is what Honolulu Florist has attempted to take advantage of. However, she did not account for the instant communications available to people today. I had a picture of her product within hours of its delivery.
Please email a photograph of your flowers so that I may verify that they are similar to those ordered.
She responded that she would refund the purchase price, but not the delivery fees. SHE HAS NOT DONE SO, even though her email of 12/27 says that she had. She further stated that my pictures were not of the flowers delivered, which is tantamount to saying I am lying. I quote her email for the reason she is not refunding the delivery charges:
I ordered flowers directly from their website. The pictured bouquet was lovely, and as this was a Christmas gift for a special person, I upgraded to deluxe.
I called to order some flowers and got the worst possible service ever. I called several times and when Gail finally did answer she took my order, almost completed it and then the call got 'disconnected'. I called back and a delivery guy answered the phone and said that she was in a meeting. Funny how she is in a meeting when I was just on the phone with her a couple of seconds ago. He told me she was unavailable and I told him to cancel my order then. He said that is just fine and proceeded to hang up. DO NOT USE THIS FLORIST!!!!!
This situation is not the result of one wire-service florist skimming from a different fulfillment florist. I placed my order directly with Honolulu Florists. She knew what was expected and deliberately sent and undersized and lower quality arrangement.
"The picture sent of our arrangement is not what was sent out and delivered. However, we will refund the your order, less the delivery $12.51, because it was signed and accepted. If it wasn't signed, we would have refunded your whole order. However, floral arrangement was accepted, we do have a signature on file for this order. Honolulu Florist"
