After being in the medical profession working with all levels of personnel for many years, I immediately called Straub back and filed a complaint; any one treated in this manner SHOULD. Patients DESERVE better treatment than what this guy provides, he merely exacerbates conditions then slams doors in their faces! Useless, arrogant people aren't caregivers... what Hippocratic oath?!
If I could give this MD NO stars I would!! He HUNG UP ON ME, a REGISTERED DIETITIAN who's worked for the Department of Veteran's Affairs for >9 years, for being frustrated with Straub's NEUROLOGY Department's lack of office protocol/medical professionalism. He was on-call (5/20/2016) at Straub Hospital when I NEEDED a renewal Rx for medication that MY Neurophysiologist, Dr. Joseph KIPTA, had charted that he called in to a retail Pharmacy; which I had requested the day before. WITHOUT even looking at my medical records, Dr. James W Pearce went on to judge me based upon the completely avoidable circumstances of being required to take a call from an out-patient because he was scheduled as the on-call neuro physician that Friday evening. After suffering DAILY occular pain/pressure for >3 mos as a result of a self-discovered reaction to a change of contact lens solution (recommended by an incompetent Sam's Club Optometrist).
Had Dr. Pearce been a little more COMPASSIONATE that FRIDAY evening, listening to the distress in my voice as the OPERATOR and my new OPHTHALMOLOGIST's RECEPTIONIST had been, he may have simply been able to take care of my issue by opening my medical record and seeing that MY Neurophysiologist had submitted a Rx to the pharmacy. But, since he is your typical, narcissistic, specialist he first tried to diagnose me over the phone (without having ever seen me), then in his demeaning tone insisted that I provide him with the history of my situation leading up to that conversation. Throughout, he interrupted and spoke over me, interjecting his opinions/comments, further infuriating me to the point where I could no longer contain my utter disgust and began swearing at the situation, so he simply HUNG UP ON ME!
