So much potential caught up in city politics. Oahu has plenty of beaches but this rare ocean pool would be such a great place to swim laps and host swim meets!
Big disapointment, closed due to no maintenance. So sad...
It's better than a hotel taking up space though.
Had to Google the history of this place. It's fenced off and in disrepair, but it's almost 100 years old.
This place has been closed since the 70's. It's currently crumbling to the ground. The city can't figure out what to do with it. Some want to get rid of it because it's a waste of money and is a pool filled with seawater. Some want to restore it because it's a historical monument. It was built a long time ago to commemorate those who fought in World War I. Duke Kahanamoku took the first swim. Has some interesting architecture.
Really hard to get in and out of the water. Every time you try to climb out the cement crumbles into the water sometimes landing on your head or clavicle. The swim is pretty good if you manage to dodge the giant morey eels.
