This was an amazing experience and I highly recommend springing for the extra VIP package. Event started promptly at 5:30 and there was plenty of time to peruse the aquarium and enjoy the cultural demonstrations before the food was served. Very unique experience to be on the beach, have access to the aquarium, eat amazing food and witness a very well done performance by the dancers and musicians.
Our first luau so we do not have anything to compare it to but we loved it! Plenty of local, delicious food. Awesome activities with very patient teachers (ukulele, lei making, basket weaving, hula dancing, tattoos, etc.). Show was funny and entertaining, very interactive. Our only “complaint” was the cost of the photos that they take. Can’t remember the exact price but we thought it was very overpriced for a simple printed picture since it was already taken and printed and we had already paid for the luau itself.
Around 7:30 the show was over. Then they announce that they have a fireworks show also (wow, cool! That's a plus!!). So they tell you to go out by the water and all of a sudden the Hilton Hawaiian village fireworks show from wayyyyy on the other side of Waikiki starts going off. Lol. Yupp..."their" firework show is the Hilton from about 8 miles away.
We choose this Luau because it was a short walk from our hotel, it was a great time. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We did not get VIP and I think that was okay, no matter where you sit you will have a great view of the stage. It was a really good all you can eat buffet and the bartenders were really great, my wife is due in May so no Alcohol for her, but they were able to make her something Island tasty and non-alcoholic. The show was really great, they had a fire dancer that was not only skilled but only 10 years old.
Very disappointed. Not worth the $100 I paid per person.
Entertainment was great. We did not buy the VIP package.apparently you don't have a server if you don't. By reading other reviews, seems others had servers and apparently had purchased VIP seats. Not impressed with food. Unsure of what any of the items were. Nothing was labeled. We were there on Fri Nov. 11, Veterans Day..table 33, towards the back of the buffet line. Buffet table was out of rice, silverware, and desert. Waited approx 5 min to get the items. If you aren't buying alcoholic drinks, it did not appear any water or tea was readily available. Had to search for a glass of water. If I attend another Luau in Honolulu it would not be this one.
One side note: bring some cash so you can tip your amazing waitstaff!!!
The staff members were all extremely professional, friendly and helpful. Our server, Sean, was stellar. He was extremely attentive, personable and made our Luau experience very memorable.
Then they have a couple of performers walking around to take pics and all. Around 6 they start serving a pretty disappointing dinner consisting of pulled pork (pre-made, not on premise), some chicken, fish and the rest of the usual carbs (potatoes, rice, etc). They also have a bar where they sell $9 drinks that are pretty weak and not worth it (you get 1 free with your admission).
My boyfriend and I highly recommend this luau - great food, excellent service, awesome entertainment and a beautiful location!
Around 6:30 the show starts. It's a very basic show with around 5 male dancers and 6 or 7 female dancers. When we were there they brought out these 2 kids (yes kids, like 8 and 10yrs old) to do the fire performance. It was pretty bad.
This luau was pretty disappointing. You are sold a 3hr show (from 5:30 - 8:30pm). You get there around 5:30 and by the time you are at your seat, it's about 5:45...still all good.
