All in all, this was a serious disappointment! I felt like I was on an episode of restaurant nightmares, where it used to be good, then the management started cutting corners until it was horrific.
I have had the privilege of dining at some of Hawaii's best restaurants, and Chart House definitely ranks high on the list in terms of service, quality, and taste.
I had the lobster medallions with shrimp and scallops in a mushroom sauce. The lobster was so overcooked that it was hard and rubbery (I'm sure it had been cooked and chilled more than once). The sauce was canned cream of mushroom, gelatinous and gross. The shrimp tasted like previously frozen and were rubber. The scallops were small, but adequate, but were swimming in the disgusting mushroom gel.
My lobster bisque was served cold and gelatinous. When I sent it back, they microwaved it, making the shrimp rubber.
When we complained, one meal was comped, but the quality was still not worth the $75 I paid.
The lava cake was ok, but no where near the quality I expect from them.
We had our wedding at the Chart House in Dana Point, CA and have eaten there on two other occasions. The food, drinks, decor, and service were amazing! So on our honeymoon, we were excited to eat at the one in Waikiki. The food was horrible!
Then there was the food, if you can call it that!
The drinks were uninspired and subpar. My wife's drink wasn't balanced well.
The Caesar salad was overdressed with gross, bottled dressing.
Food, ambiance and service was fabulous. Drinks not so good. Although we were there for our Anniversary at no point were we wished a happy Anniversary or given any celebratory dessert. A little bit of a let down, especially since we drove down 1 1/2 hours to go there.
Good restaurant with delicious menu. I enjoyed their sunset menu, and their shrimp pasta. The waiter that served us was very kind and definitely earned his tip. We had a table facing the marina. The inside atmosphere is a bit dark for my taste but the window side is rather nice.
The building and decor are dated, but not too bad. The view is of the harbor (it was night, so I can't comment much on the view). The staff was good, seating us promptly and attentive, but not too much.
My wife had the "ahi mignon". We've had a lot of ahi, but this was by far the worst! I cannot even describe how off the flavor and texture was. It wasn't old, but it didn't even taste like ahi. There was a teriyaki glaze, but it was like it was put on there, cooked, chilled, then reheated. It was inedible.
Awesome restaurant. The shutome was outstanding as well as the chicken. Service was outstanding and the drinks were really strong.
Save your money and go to one of the food trucks instead!
There is something to be said about about dining with a beautiful harbor view sprinkled with boat masts canvasing a picture perfect sunset...it is, in a word...enchanting.
