I'm an alumni, so I'm a little bias on how great the school is. It's music program is very strong on setting up the kids to a life long appreciation for music. I'm an art person but have enjoyed many concerts played by my friends back during my time at the school and once again when my daughter attended the school. Keep up the great program.

I take occasionally take care of a special needs boy who goes to school here and is in the special education program. The other day a SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER called the police on this 12 year old boy, for a simple misunderstanding about his belongings taken away. I cannot believe a teacher who is trained to take care of kids like him would do something like call the HPD for a 12 YEAR OLD CHILD. He was terrified and may never recover. If he is scarred by this experience it will be considered unforgivable. I suggested that he be taken out of the school immediately. If you are a parent of a special needs child, take this in to consideration before you send your child to this school. This woman should be ashamed of herself and held accountable both morally and legally.

Being quite disappointed with the school. School Principal "recognizes" the importance of meeting students' needs such as emotional, physical, and intellectual needs. However, he does not act on it. The school uses negative reinforcement instead of positive reinforcement. My son has done well in elementary school, academically, socially, and emotionally. Now he hates school. (He is not experiencing bullying or struggling academically. He does not like the negative reinforcements and meaningless homework, which makes him feel "dumb" and has taken away his own reading time.) I am wondering if the school can be changed or if we should look for alternatives... I would homeschool if I could afford not to earn an income. Or is it all the same as long as we stay in the DOE system?

A school that is recognized for their highly respected band program

Great school
