***I received a call from Connie who is the owner of the spa. She explained that the ladies are all independent contractors. She also mentioned that my lady was not the regular nail person. (The regular girl is off on Tuesdays.) Connie was very kind and apologetic. She also offered me a service to make up for my experience. This was very kind but unnecessary. It does however speak volumes to their customer service!
A bit pricey but service and cut were good.

I had probably the worst mani/pedi I have ever had here. It was not only a poor job...it was not relaxing at all. I was seated in a regular chair that was not comfortable, (They do have a spa chair but this nail lady chose not to use it?) but the blow driers were going and the place was very crowded with "Regular Salon Stuff" so it had the feel of that rather than a relaxing "Spa" atmosphere. Again the ladies were all very nice and I cannot speak to their salon talents at all. I do not recommend that anyone go here for nails though.
Ahhh! Take me away! Love this place! I have been going to Connie, the owner for over 10 years. It is true, at almost all salons the staff is contracted. This means they rent a chair or pay a commission to the owner on each transaction. It is a great way to share expenses and still work for yourself. Most of the staff are long timers with their own clientele established. We love new business and welcome walk ins. If you are familiar with the internet, you will know that changing a phone number on a public listing takes a LONG time and sites do not update on their own. Consider all possibilities when making a decision. We ask you to give us an opportunity to show you that was the exception and not the rule! The staff of the Hawaii Kai Salon & Day Spa has been living and working in this area for many, many years- we are part of the community! We are YOU!
