Fantastic food and service. Lots of selection for what goes into your broth. Extremely casual.
The dining room is very very very very tiny. Probably 10-11 four-people tables at most. With four fridges in the back storing cold stuff for grabs. If you show up at regular dinner time, like around 6-7ish, there's most likely will be a wait. Once you're seated, you'll be able to order the broth and meat with the server and the rest you can get from the fridge. There's lots of varieties for the cold items, fish cake, all kinds of veggies, meat balls, pork hash and such. Each plate is color coded. In the end they'll count the plates and figure out how much to charge you. Kinda like a sushi spinary place. Food wise, it's not bad yet not extremely great. Meat portions are kind of small. But they do give you free dessert in the end. That was nice. And it's yummy, too! I would still choose Mongolian over Sweet Home only because the option to do all you can eat. It's just a better deal overall.
Come early. The place fills up fast. Broth was tasty- got the lemongrass and curry. It was our first time so we got a split pot. Lemongrass was better than curry if you like a refreshing tang. Plates can be hard to keep track of if you sit at the communal tables. Waitstaff took empty plates from our neighbors and stacked them on our side so we got over charged. Other than that the food was tasty. Desert was fantastic. We got to take our soup home since we did a la cart.
First time ever going to such an establishment. I thought the broth was great but what I didn't like was that variety of vegetable sides was limited. Also not being a buffet from the time we went the meat portions were small for the price. Overall a good place but prepare for a wait. Parking is crazy limited and the inside sits maybe 15 pots.
I have tried them all... the BEST H.P. on Island. Price is right. Staff is also super friendly. BYOB. #1!
