I had the Avo-Veggie sandwich - the small size but it was filling. The bread was fresh and so were all the veggies on it.
NOTE: since everything here is fresh, they run out of some menu items, so if you have your heart set on a particular item, you might want to give them a call before you head over there.
Once in the place if no one is behind the counter be sure to ring the bell so they know there is someone new.
Shortly after sitting down we were greeted by a friendly waitress who brought our menus and explain many things. I told her it was my first is it to her restaurant and only my second visit to a vegan restaurant so I needed some help in choosing things. She recommended the Popeye sandwich and the bibimbap for some variety. We also had their house made lemonade and iced tea and those two drinks were really amazing. You might need a little Agave to sweeten your Ice-T though.
Peace Cafe is an awesome vegan spot. They have great plates and sandwiches. Also, I really appreciate how they try to change out the menu. They also have dessert options. I wish they would update their website to show their daily specials.. parking is in the back or you can street park.
A place to eat healthy.
The food was amazing.
The only downside is there is very limited seating.
My favorite plate is the poke bowl. But the peace plate is also very delicious and healthy. I haven't tried their sandwiches but the people next to me were eating them so that will be a next for me.
To complete our meal we finished with a matcha Brownie and the hot coffee. The tab was about $35 plus tip. It's very good for the freshness and health that you are choosing. Definitely recommended.
All vegan options, great food!
Like stepping back into the 90’s? I do. There aren’t many places like Peace Cafe anymore on island or anywhere, sadly. Crunchy vegetarian food, delicious and the servings are generous. They also have great coconut milk ice cream, smoothies and baked goods.
Its a very small hole in the wall off of king street very easy to miss, so make sure you are looking.
Peace Cafe is located between the McCully library and the old stadium park. There is no parking lot so only street parking is available. Try and come a little early or a little late to beat the lunch rush. We arrived around 10:30 a.m. and easily found street parking in front of the restaurant. The pay meters are $0.25 for 20 minutes. At that time, the restaurant was nearly empty. We chose a quiet table in the back close to the restaurants mini Library.
